Job Summary:
The General Manager Investments is responsible to build, implement, control, monitor and develop investment strategy and policies, contribute to business strategy, to lead the investment team and drive the growth and profitability of the company, supervise and oversee the investment process, establish processes to ensure investment policies are followed, and make decisions on asset allocation, selection of external managers, and risk management across portfolios.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the CEO in setting AGAD’s strategic goals, objectives, guidelines, plans, and budgets to enhance AGAD’s market share, exposure, and profitability as well as ensuring that they are communicated promptly to all departments/functions and that departments’ managers are working towards achievement of these goals and objectives.
- Develop the Investments department’s annual budget and ensure all employees are working towards achievement of the department’s goals and objectives within the assigned budget by setting the required targets and responsibilities upon subordinates and aligning it with long term goals.
- Develop the Investments department’s (and related functions’) objectives, plans, policies & procedures and ensure their implementation across all functions within the department as well as their compliance with local and international regulations and standards.
Operational Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for creating a comprehensive investment strategy that aligns with the organization’s overall objectives, risk tolerance, and time horizon. This includes assessing market trends and economic conditions to identify opportunities and risks, as well as developing and evaluating investment policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain portfolio strategies and processes; monitor performance, including cost, risk, cash flow, and liquidity; and collaborate with other departments, including risk, compliance, and operations.
- Communicate investment strategies, performance, and market outlook to stakeholders, including the board of directors and executive management.
- Working closely with the executive team to ensure investments align with overall business objectives.
- Responsible for leading and managing a team of investment professionals, including hiring and training staff, delegating tasks, and providing ongoing feedback and support. Serve as key liaisons between the investment function and other parts of the organization, including the executive leadership team, board members, and external stakeholders.
- Oversee the management of the organization’s investment portfolio, including asset allocation, risk management, and performance evaluation. They work closely with investment managers to ensure that the portfolio is diversified and well-positioned to achieve the organization’s financial goals.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize the organization’s exposure to market volatility and other potential risks. This includes assessing the risk profile of individual investments and the portfolio as a whole, as well as establishing risk management policies and procedures. Identifying financial risks and devising plans for mitigating them.
- Research investment opportunities, negotiate investment terms and conduct thorough due diligence on investment opportunities, reviewing financial statements, conducting background checks on investment managers, and assessing risk factors.
- Develop and lead the financial analysis and consulting services · Ensure all investment activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies. · Perform other related duties as assigned.
